I received my undergraduate education at Purdue University where I studied chemistry and worked under Mark Lipton. I attended graduate school at The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California where I worked under Valery Fokin. My research was primarily interested in the discovery of new organometallic reactions and investigation of their mechanism. I next moved to the University of Colorado - Boulder and worked as an Arnold and Mable Beckman Postdoctoral Fellow under Chris Bowman. There I was interested in the development of dynamic and recyclable photopolymers, with a broader interest photo-responsive materials. In my independent lab at DU we specialize in the creation and development of functional materials, synthesis, and catalysis. Ultimately, my lab concentrates on making things that people can use and will gladly pursue that wherever the hell it might take us.

Outside of the lab I enjoy cooking, watching instructional YouTube videos, drinking beer(s), gardening, generally being outside with my dog (Frankie), and hanging out with my wife (Brianna) and two daughters (Zola and Iris). Some fun facts about me: I’m freakishly tall (6’11”), originally am from Indiana, and, no, I don’t play basketball.
